I believe he's talking about the temperature switch for the fan, which if you read the thread, is what I determined wasn't working with mine.
As far as testing it, someone else will have to answer that. I just realized I hadn't heard my fan run for a few months, even when it was 110 out so I figured it stopped working. It's supposed to cut on at 150, which seems really high to me anyways. So you could put a thermometer on it and see what the temperature is, if it's above 150 and not on, then it's not working. If it's not hot enough for that you could maybe take a blow dryer or heat gun to it. I'm no expert though, so take that with a grain of salt.
