Remove silicone from calking

Acetone will remove it. I used nail polish acetone to remove some silicon caulk on a couple vertical pieces of cap trim that I had done several years ago (before I became smart from RV.Net). Used it again to remove the Dicor I had use the second time (looked like dodo). Acetone removed all residue and I re-caulked it this time with Pro-flex. Actually looks better now than the factory job.

Greg, I don't know about silicone on a rubber roof, mine was around windows, roof vents etc, mine is an aluminum roof.

I found a report that said to use Ammonia on the silicone. Some came right off and some took a little scrubbing. But I got it off.

I like the fact the company offers assistance to those who complained in the review section:

I always had good luck using the 3M silicone remover. The trick is to make sure the old caulk is completely covered and let it react for at least the time indicated. Get off as much as you can and then do a second application of the 3M remover. Stick to polyurethane caulk, it lasts far longer.

This is what I believe is my choice of action, another problem is finding a nice warm/hot day in Ontario!! Rain almost every day this spring and summer #$#%

I used 3M silicone caulk remover (and other solvents) to remove the nasty silicone on my rig. The major drawback is that the remover needs time to work (usually over-night).

In your case, I would get a plastic caulk removal tool and scrape all the cracked Dicor along with the silicone. It will be somewhat tiresome but will be worth the effort. After mechanical removal, use a caulk remover or solvent to remove any residue. Eternabond sealing tape is also an option and it will outlast any type of caulk applied on the roof.

I always use urethane based sealants. Not sure what dicor is but my guess is urethane. You should be able to apply directly over silicone. I wouldn't remove on the roof since aesthetics are not the main objective.

It is next to impossible.
Cut or peel as much as you can off, and then use Dicor, but make sure to completely cover any silicon that is left.
