Remove Thetford toilet riser

Our TT has a Thetford "tall" toilet with an additional Thetford accessory riser (+2.5 inches) installed under it by prev-owner. Neither of us are tall enough to appreciate the total height. I intend to remove the riser, but would like to hear from any who might have added or removed one.

Is it as straight-forward as removing the closet bolts, disconnecting the water supply, lifting out the toilet, then riser and then reinstalling the toilet with a new seal? Or is the riser glued in?

I'll also have to shorten the water supply PEX line by the 2.5 inches.

    That's it, you will need shorter closet bolts and a new rubber seal ( don't use a wax ring, use the therefore seal). The riser is just held together by the long closet bolts going from original floor flange, through riser, in to toilet, along with two rubber flange seals.

    And instead of just shortening PEX supply line....now would be the time to install a shutoff valve

    Agree with all the above. We installed one of those and what's been described above is the reverse of what we did.
    What I wanted to mention is "why" we installed it. Specifically, it covers repairs to damaged flooring from a previous owner's toilet leak. If this coach is previously owned, there just might be a surprise under that base...

    Just a toilet FYI:

    Before you start ripping that raiser out. Just keep in mind that an RV toilet is WAAAY lower than the standard toilet in your house.

    That is why most of us put it on a raiser or buy a new one toilet that is taller matching a house toilet height.

    There is a chance that the previous owner bought a taller toilet AND put the raiser on it also. But I would measure the toilet first.

    When you go to sit down the first time on a 'standard RV toilet' your body is so used to the toilet being a certain height in your home you just about fall down on to it because it so much lower. Just saying think about that. :W

    ^This, and had already measured. Current toilet is Thetford "High" (tall) PLUS riser, 20" overall; s&b unit is 16.5". Removing 2.5" riser will get us off tip-toes and almost 'home'. Thanks, though.

    You must be young with good knees, as you get older and arthritis begins to set in you will appreciate the added height.
