Thetford Toilet Removal

I need to remove the toilet in my 5er.It is a Thetford porcelain Toilet with a shroud that wraps around the toilet and is held together in the back with a elastic band.It looks to me that the foot pedal on the front has to be removed. If that is the case can somebody tell me how it comes off? Sorry i don't have the model # but it is in a Jayco 2005 model if that helps.
Thanks for any help

  • Thanks guys
I didn't see any possible way to get it around the pedal because the opening was too small but i will try what you say.
    Thanks again

Old - Biscuit got you started right. Sounds like you have the Thetford STYLE PLUS model. Behind that shroud are two disparate sized rubber bands holding it closed. Remove them, spread the opening and pull forward tilting the front up. The shroud will slip over the pedal even tho it looks impossible.
Then you have your basic toilet held down by two exposed bolts. Remove the nuts, disconnect the water supply (hand tightened nut in the back) and you can lift the toilet right out to the picnic table where you can work on it.

I was wondering what was all over that picnic table :H

  • I never removed the pedal for installation. But then, I never installed that wrapper either. Looks good to me w/o it.
  • Two elastic bands in back hold shroud on....remove them and then you ca lift the shroud off (tilt it towards the front while lifting up)
