Repair Battery Posts? UPDATE-Photos

Update at end (5 Sep post)

I have over torqued the threaded bolts on a couple of posts so they have come out loose. The bolts are simply set upside down with the head covered in the lead of the post.

So how to get them stuck back in? Can I use a propane blowtorch on the lead and then use pliers and hammer (whatever) to squeeze the bolt back in the lead or will that blow- torching heat go down into the battery and do something bad? Or what?

Thanks.

  • Maybe use a hacksaw to cut a screwdriver slot in the end of the bolt? I'm assuming they are just turning and not completely pulled out.

I think the plastic battery case would melt before the lead. I would not use the torch.
