Repair Sagging Jayco J-Steel Sofa Seat

It's a 66-inch Steel-Framed Jack Knife Sofa. Steel frame mounts to the RV floor, sofa extends 30-inches from the coach wall.

The suspension of the seating cushion is shot. It's a steel perimeter with wire stringers connected to the rear edge of the frame with springs. The stringers are threaded through plastic cords (which run parallel to the 66-inch length) and several of those are broken. Reminds me of the old hide-a-bed sofas with a flat "spring" made up of wire links then springs around the edges. Just simpler. Cheaper?

I've slipped wooden strips and a sheet metal plate under there but it's just too hard.

How can I get some support under it without it feeling like a park bench?

Thanks!!!
