replace vinyl stickers?

Well first trip is winding down. Just to local campground. Evergreen in Mt Eaton Ohio has wonderful indoor pool and we like to take first trip because its nice and close. Only issues I noticed are the vinyl stickers seem much more cracked since last fall. Is the best thing to do replace or peel off and have painted?

Crossroads is now part of the Keystone family, I'm not sure how that will affect the ability to get decals from them but it might. As far as KEG being better priced I have found that they often are, even on a custom one. It will also depend on the difficulty in reproducing the sticker if they don't have OEM. Last summer we needed three white "Winnebago" stickers. There were only two left on the planet, so we had KEG make the third one. They had to create the artwork (it was pretty simple in this case) and then make the decal, and they were still less than the two we bought from the factory. I took a quick glance and didn't see any Crossroads OEM decals at all.

If you want to have them painted on you don't need to call the factory paint shop, any body shop or RV repair shop can do it. Sometimes the paint codes are on the vehicle ID tag, but you can usually find them online. If you don't find them the shop you choose should be able to, but that won't be a cheap option either.

    Good luck!
  • The reason they're so expensive is the material waste is massive due to the size and shape and how they need laid out on the roll of material. The good vinyl that will last more than 5-7 years is not exactly cheap to begin with. The RV manufacturers enter into a contract and the vendor runs off X amount of sets for a particular contract. Typically once those are gone they're gone, and the RV manufacturer has gone on to another vendor. You can expect they used the cheapest material available. Usually going to a graphics shop is your only option that makes sense financially, and it's not going to be cheap.

My daughter in law does it for a living and has the equipment. She has only done a couple of RV's as most people balk at the price she quotes but they're expensive to make and until you've personally tried to strip them, you don't know what a job it truly is.

Wraps present their own problems. How are they going to address the condition where the vinyl comes up to a molding that is sealed with sealant? Every one I have seen wrapped looked great from 100 yards away but like a shoemaker did it up close.

When I ordered our 17 Rockwood I tried to talk Rockwood into deleting the graphics with no success. Even after I stressed I was not after any kind of price discount.

  • If you do decide to replace the decals and aren't able to find OEM, my shop has used a place called KEG Graphics in California to make them for us and they've done some pretty amazing work at more than reasonable prices. Last summer we needed a huge rear wall decal for a Damon Intruder that couldn't be purchased any longer. We had them make it for us, they asked exhaustive questions until they had the colors/measurements down exact, and the result was beyond expectations. It looked exactly like the OEM decal. We've used them many times, highly recommend them.

The first website is a page you can look to see if they have the graphics you are looking for; if they don't there's a contact page. The second website is general information.
  • Depending on the model year, the decals may not even be available. Might be able to get a decal/wrap shop to duplicate them.
  • Paint on would be lifetime. Vinyl decals would be 5 years. Paint on would be more expensive. You decide.
