- Assumptions are risky
- There are at least three answers for every battery malfunction symptom
- So you need to test to see which answer is the correct answer
- When asking a technical question on a forum lack of supplied information about the equipment you are working with will lead to assumptions which is an alternative definition of "guess"
- Declare your setup with brand name. model number and age
- Then a helpful reader can track it down online and have a correct understanding of what the thing does and what is normal and what isn't when it comes to diagnostics with a simple volt meter.
Once a battery is charged correctly it can have the cables disconnected then have a battery maintenance charger connected to it. Then you do not have to rely on your rig's converter to do it -- and very few regular converters can maintain a battery as good as a small maintenance charger. This is critical for longest battery life.
For very infrequent camping the interstate battery will work fine. I would measure the capacity limit of the battery tray and if the tray is 13" or longer you can upgrade to a larger capacity GROUP 31 battery. This will give you 12% more storage capacity than a group 24 battery which is 10-3/4" inches in length.
Many brands of converter will not charge a battery to 100% full even left on for days and days. One brand is especially awful but that's something that needs to be addressed after your return and post here as a followup.
