Replacing fuel filter on 5kw generator

I like to do preventative maintenance on our 1996 Georgie Boy Cruisemaster.

But over the years I could never figure a way to get access to the fuel filter for the generator. The Kohler generator is squeezed in so tightly that I cannot reach my hand nor tools to reach the fuel filter. I can see the filter but cannot get to it.

Has anyone figured a way to change this fuel filter?

  • If it's really that hard and it's running fine.. Just find a good spot and add a in line filter. The one that was on the gen will never clog with the new in line.
  • While I don't have an answer to you filter question, attached is a 1993 GBM manual that might help with other issues. This older manual has a lot more info on wiring systems than manuals on new MHs have.

If you don't get an answer here, on a long shot, you might go to on-line used MH sales sites and look for a private sale by someone of the same MH. Call them and see if they've done their own maintenance.

You might also check with the people at the Georgie Boy Owners Club.
