Not an RV absorption gas burner operated fridge

We had issues with our Maytag (same fridge just different name plate) Called Sears, they sent a service teck to the campground we were at. Using a gas sniffer he found a VERY SMALL pine hole where the defrost heat element had rubbed against the cooling coil. He ordered the parts that came in 2 days later and the next day came back to the campground, replaced the cooling coil, heat element, evacuated/recharged the system. FYI when I called Sears the fridge was not under warranty and they offered an extended warranty for $275 before the repair that covered the $425 repair.

Really. ALL the Residentials we have pulled for the Repair people to fix, they REPLACE the compressor cooling system. Never seen them evacuate and charge a system. My understanding is, the replacement is a sealed system already charged. Maybe some are sealed and others will be fixed and recharged. They use 134a which is the same in Auto's now. Doug

You have a five year warranty on the compressor system... call Whirlpool.

I'd call Whirlpool just to see what they can do for you.
