You do need a good bank of batteries and the better the charger is on your inverter (assuming you have a good inverter/charger) the faster the batteries will recharge. We have had a GE Profile fridge in our coach since 1999 and it still is working without issue. We full time and we were only able to do that (says the DW) with all the comforts of home. An RV fridge just can't do what this thing does especially the frost-free part. The 20+ CF of storage space is just a bonus.
