I assume you are leaving the towing cable disconnected at this time???
If so, then just connect the docking lights. You can just twist the wires together or any way convenient for testing. My rv has a separate switch for the docking lights versus being run from the reverse lights. Maybe you have a switch too??
In any case, the addition of the docking lights should be fine.
Once you have that sorted out then you can go back to finding the issue with the trailer harness.
