Due to the shape of tires, running over alligators can easily curl up and remove the valve stem, instantly ruining a tire... I have seen and heard this happen on a few occasions...
If you really think about it, it is surprising that it doesn’t happen more often... I try to never run over anything in the road, of course that it not always possible...

With the exception of knowledgeable full timers and a few others that are active on forums, most people never give thought to what tires are on a trailer. The same when buying a car, how many people put any thought into what tire is on the car... I believe the mistake (aside from ignorance- in its truest sense) is that people have confidence when they buy a big ticket item such as car, RV and such, that they were engineered and come equipped with proper equipment...
