The point I was trying to make was that the trailer factory could - from the git-go and for less than $300 - put on tires with a larger load carrying capacity.
Ya but as long as people seem more interested in fireplaces, slate tile floor, multiple TVs, Mirrors on ceiling, glass shower doors, and other heavy options and less interested in lighter weight construction and a design with a focus on durability and reliability we will have to accept the "pop, pop, pop" ov overloaded tires.
ST tires carry the most load per unit air volume. The load tables were developed when the speed limit was 55 mph and were just a temporary "toy" used occasionally on weekends.
The only thing likely to occur (in 3 to 5 years) would be the elimination of the allowance to bump the speed to above 65.
I would say that the likelyhood of increasing the allowable load is 0% so if you want to decrease the failure rate only a possible approach would be a sustained pressure on the RV mfg by going to shows and dealers, asking for better load capacity and walking away if they don't offer it.
