With regard to the portion of this thread that deals with derating tires and the meaning of dual and tandem, I requested clarification from both Goodyear and MOR/RYDE....the following reply is from MOR/RYDE...my tandem axle manufacturer....
My partial e-mail..."I have two (tandem) 7000 lb axles with leaf springs on a Carriage Cameo that is rated at 14999 GVW (2600 lb is on pin when empty) ...two tires per axle and 4 tires in total. The trailer came with E rated tires and I have upgraded to G rated, but I am just trying to verify the load rating per tire. "
Their reply...
"If you do not have dual tires then you don’t have to de-rate the tires. That is only when you have dual tires. Let me know if you need anything else."
SO...there may be some confusion on this issue....awaiting reply from Goodyear.
Not sure what the confusion is. Did you read my post that covered "Dual" vs "Tandem"?
Not sure of the complete question you asked Goodyear or their complete answer but it sounds like the person that answered is used to answering questions on truch tires and may not know that RV trailers do not have duals but for the most part do have tandem axles.
Bottom line...Tires on tandem axles are not de-rated according to published standards.
That does not mean they shouldn't be per my opinion based on actual unique tire loading of tandem mounting.
