I thought we were just discussing the particular posters axles, what they are rated for, the tires the manufacturer gave him, and what margin he is running them at. The point I was making, regardless of tongue weight (from 5 pounds to 1500 pounds), should he find himself running 3500 pounds on each axle some day, the current tires won't have the 15% margin, however, the ones I suggested would have more than 15%. The tongue/pin weight would just be the amount over 7000 pounds that the posters trailer would weight under those conditions and would have no bearing on the appropriate tire for running at maximum GAWR.
"manufacturer gave him" sounds like you think the tire mfg are consulted on the application. I would be very surprised if there are any TT mfg or motorized RV mfg for that matter, that ask any questions of the mfg. They are probably only contacting importers and asking "What's the cost for x dozen size ABC tires?". Might as well be toster ovens they are talking about as I have never heard of an RV mfg having an experiensed tire engineer involved in selection of tires. If I am wrong I would love to know which mfg does that for as FE has shown the TT mfg doesn't even know how to print a legal placard all the time.
