If you read the TRA yearbook, you'll find that these 265's have a minimum rim width of 7" - so 6 1/2 and 6 are too small.
Also, I have found that if you stay within the allowable rim width range, the things that are said about rims being too wide or too narrow aren't quite true. That allowable range produces changes too subtle to distinguish.
And even just outside that range, there have been instances where things have worked out OK - but I don't recommend going there.
And a note to Roger. I don't know when TRA changed the allowable rim width range, but it is currently a bit narrower than it was before. BTW, Tire Guides hasn't updated their chart, so don't rely on that!
