Keystone RV Company is one of the largest manufacturers of RV trailers. In their individual postings they list the specs for all of their trailers. You are invited to view the individual specs. What design tire do you suspect is their primary OE tire? It’s not 100% but close. They do use a hybrid LT tire that is designed - in part - for use on the RV trailer axles.

Here are a couple of examples.

With almost all of their OE tires being from the ST design it’s pretty easy to work out a chart for failures. Who needs to be sited? The vehicle manufacturer or the tire manufacturer? How important is the owners’ tire maintenance practices? And do owners know the limitations of the ST tire when they purchase their first trailer? Did you consider the history of the tires that came on your trailer, used or new? When they get treated badly or get ill they DO NOT heal.
Tires are talked about in these tire threads primarily because someone had a problem with their OE trailer tires. Most times a simple, single load capacity increase will fix the situation because during the search and conversations the owner of the failed tire (s) has also learned a lot about the trailer tire design and its needs. When a OE tire size is already at it’s maximum load capacity other options are sought out and when cross designs are used their parameters will not match that of the OE tires.
Enter the brand loyalists‘. A size recommendation cannot be made in these threads without the brand loyalists’ jumping in with their brand recommendations. Most people hauling a RV trailer just might have a pretty good idea of what their particular brand name is. But, they might be stumped when it comes to tires designed for the trailer axles. Goodyear is about the only one that is readily recognizable. Mission, Maxxis, Towmaster, Towmax, etc…etc.… may be just names on a tire to them. Carlisle has been in the Special Trailer tire business for a long time but not many outside of the field will recognize their name. Be patient with your recommendations. Lots of users just want to go to the state park a couple times a year and hang out.

Solve the OEM tire problem and the replacement tire problem will fade away also!
It would help also to get everyone marching in step in the same direction!
The tire problems I see coming into our Snowbird park did not start with the consumer, they started with a low bid at the trailer manufacturers purchasing department.
So left right left right!
