To me they looked like a beveled guide to center the holes on the inside rim. However, don't matter a hill of beans what I thought they looked like. It matters what they are. :)

Last time something like that happen to me I kept pressure on a brake drum(rim in your case,) and then went in to use the bathroom. In a few minutes I heard what sounded like a shotgun blast. Yep, it broke free all on it's own.

Works well on cars.. I don't think I'd care to try that on my truck.

HEAT, you do not need to get it "Red Hot" just a few hundred degrees.. Well within it's tolerance levels.

Inside lug nuts were a bit stubborn but nothing that a five foot cheater bar couldn't handle. Inside wheel came right off once I took the SECOND SET OF LUG NUTS off.

I'm a complete idiot. I have the 800 plus page shop manual for the chassis and did not research removing the tires before I started. I mean, it's taking off a tire, that's child's play.

WRONG!!!
Mistake #1. Right side lugs are reverse threaded.

Mistake #2. The lug nuts are "two element" lug nuts. Once the outside dually comes off, the inside lug nuts need removed.

I read this late last night and will report on results later.

Note to self: Next time, READ THE F@%#ING MANUAL FIRST.

I broke ours loose using the 4x8 battering ram approach. Hadn't heard of the Loosen-Lugs-and-Drive-It approach. Our wheels have an extra 7/16" hole between two of the eight stud holes. I threaded those holes 1/2"x20 (fine) thread and carry a trailer lug bolt which is that thread. Now I can use the bolt to push a stuck wheel loose.
This is why I posted on the Stuck Lug Nuts thread to go ahead and get the wheels off when we have control of the situation. Far better at home than on the road.
