- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerSomeone remarked the R&S AGM is a Fullriver battery. I compared Fullriver to Concorde's battery. Conclusion?
The Concorde is superior. Trying to compete a .070" plate to a .105" plate is obvious. The cruising sailboat community likes the Fullriver/R&S battery. But they rave about the Concorde Lifeline.
It's much like trying to find a competitor against Rolls $ Surrette's flooded batteries. There are pretenders that are pretty good, but there is only one master.
I've seen dozens of cases of misuse and abuse that would have rendered a flooded battery to junk status endured by a Rolls and it laughed it off. How about an L-16 that was boiled near dry by a high power marine alternator, then had an internal spark and blew the lid off the battery? Boiling acid went everywhere. I spent a day with special battery case epoxy repairing the lid and case. I then refilled the battery with OE gravity electrolyte, then top charged the battery. The SG came to normal. The battery withstood an 800 ampere test load. The Schooner then departed and the last I heard it was in the Mediterranean the Aegean Sea, a year later with battery bank B performing exactly like Battery Bank A. in Las Vegas the Rolls Booth photocopied the snapshots I had taken, and copied my notes.
Love to see them build their own AGM! - donn0128Explorer IIRolls are very highly rated in the heavy duty marine battery business. If the price is within reason and you take care of them they should offer long service life.
