Boondocking is not Plug N Play
I would love to be able to play Layback Lenny, and cheat. Who wouldn't?
But, to be blunt about things, gauge monitoring of an AGM battery is easier than cell bubble or hydrometer monitoring of a flooded battery. I know every trick in the book and so now, does my son-in-law. The girls are not allowed in the generator battery structure*. But I wonder if things would be as strict if the batteries were VRB?

The ergonomics of cost and ease of proper battery management is always of interest to me.
But positively (a word I seldom use) the prospect of running a shunt wiring connection between battery bank and monitor is the one and only great obstacle for many RVers. To do it right is no small job.
