:) - big_bufordExplorerMex, dont know if you recall, about 2-3 yrs ago came across some 8d deka agms for $150. You wanted one but had some car issues on your way down. Not a peep out of um. Camp 2 to 3 times a month and use them hard. Love um.
- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerWhen I first started RVing the battery choice was 1) low price lightweight 2) Medium price mid weight 3) Expensive heavyweight. All were 6 cell tar top car batteries. Group 27 was king. No such thing as a camping battery. Glad there exists a wide range batteries now.
- beachcomber_1ExplorerInstalled first one in 2003, got 9 years out of it. replacement same AGM.

LESS Ahr for the same PHYSICAL SIZE (IE takes MORE AGM batteries to equal Flooded Lead Acid).
Not in all cases
Spiral wound optima batteries fit your description
Standard agm car jars are on a par in weigh versus amp hrs with more cca as flooded
My Telco AGM batteries are in between, the weight versus amps of flooded GC versus car jar batteries
My AGMs weigh more than gc and offer a few ampHrs more rating per pair
200# 270 amp hrs at 8 hr cycle rate
versus GC pair 130# 230 amp hrs 20 hr cycle rate, what is the 8 hr rate of a pair of gc
I have to double check, but I think the 20 hr rate of my AGMs was 316 amp hrs per pair
Besides we are off topic, this was not asked to be a comparison discussion
That has happen way to many times
The question, did you get one of the items listed ?
Are you happy
The I don't understand all the fuss
Is not worth the money, I'm sticking to fla
All verge on trolling - BFL13Explorer IIOur 1981 truck camper (which I have much renovated) has its not- sealed battery box inside with no special outside venting. Problem came when I installed an LP alarm. My set of 6s in there, while on shore power Float (never mind actual charging) kept setting off the alarm. Cure was to put AGMs in there instead.
Otherwise, I would not get AGMs. Cost a bunch more per AH and can't use an hydrometer.
Only time I wished for them is camping in the winter when the batts outside get cold and lose AH capacity. Be nice to have the batts inside where it is heated and they don't lose their AH. - GdetrailerExplorer III

I'll never understand why people are so "fire up" about AGM batteries. Unless the battery is mounted somewhere that it might tip over or in such a terrible location that serving a flooded cell battery is nearly impossible, it just does nor seem like it is worth ANY extra cost.
Here are my likes of AGM, lower parasitic loss, can tolerate deep cycling, much faster recharge time, and twice the service life. I'll fess up, this is what I'm told and don't have a long experience with them. My 2015 RAM Cummins came with a set of AGM batteries. Time will tell if my loyalty is misguided.
Yes, there are some "good" points like you have mentioned, the problem is the bad points that folks gloss over, like..
LESS Ahr for the same PHYSICAL SIZE (IE takes MORE AGM batteries to equal Flooded Lead Acid).
DIFFERENT charging voltage profiles than Flooded Lead Acid..
Overcharging to the point of the VENTING WILL RESULT IN A EXPENSIVE DOOR STOP!
MUCH HIGHER COST PER Ahr!
If you are OK with spending more to get less Ahr capacity go ahead and do it.. Personally I am not OK with spending more to get less capacity..
Carry on. - boshogExplorer

- landyacht318ExplorerThe ability to accept huge recharging amperages without issue, no gassing or checking of electrolytel levels, and voltage retention under load all have me loving my AGM
