- DiskDoctrExplorerDo you want to warm the floor, or have a warm spot fornyour feet?
I'm wondering if a piece of material under the heater would help? If you don't want to heat the floor, that is, as it would insulate it from losing heat to the floor. - mena661ExplorerCool, let us know how they work out.
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
I decided to order the magic carpet units. They are willing to create holes for my double pedestal dinette. That one will be 24" x 39". The "aisle" will be 21" x 163". I'm very hopeful that this will eliminate my cold floor problems. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
It is uncomfortably cold. I don't have a point and measure thermometer, so I can't give you a number. I picked -18 f at random.
The "step" to the side door has a mat--and the mat has snow on it. - christopherglenExplorerHow cold is the floor with the heater on now? I know it is -18 outside, but I assume the floor inside is above freezing, I have never spilled something and had it freeze to the floor on contact when the heater is on.
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
I heard from the Rugbuddy folks. Here is what I asked:
"I am interested in using the rugbuddy in a situation where the floor would initially be at -18 f. How much can I expect the floor temperature to rise to?"
Answer:
"Hi Don,
A good 30 to 40 degrees.
Thank you,
Dan"
I'm wondering if they did not understand the question. 40 degrees from -18f is still 1 miserably cold 22 f and well below freezing. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
I heard back from the magic carpet folks (tempurtec). Here is their reply.
Don
The cost for the 2 x 7.5 heated carpet mat is $150.00 and it can run on 12v if you use a power converter. The carpet operates at a constant temp and does not rquire a thermostat but you can get a plug in unit if needed..If you want holes cut in the carpet, please send us a drawing of where you want the holes and we will install them for you.
Thanks

I have another class A and will be putting in new flooring (wood and tile).
While I have never stepped on a cold rug and cant quite see the benefit of warming one (well ok if you consider the primordial need to curl up like a cat on a warm floor), I will be using a heating underlayment under the flooring. Pretty much the same thing minus the padding.
I hate ice cold tile. wow.
Thats what we did. Put under floor heating under the laminate. We only have laminate in the bedroom and living room. Bathroom and kitchen are ceramic tile and they tend to be a little cool on the feet. - pianotunaNomad III
