From someone who has had a painted boat trailer used to launch in salt water - get a galvanized trailer and not worry anymore.
MTNHNTR, I know and I really appreciate the great advice, But I am looking at maybe $200 in materials,,, I am retired and Dungeness crab season starts back up in November, so my thought is,,,,, a project,, a reason to buy more tools,, so time is not to much of an issue,,, rust is heavy but surface only,,, Drive train is a no brainer,,less than $100,,, A new Galv trailer is $500 minimum,,, I hope to make this work for less than the price of a Harbor Freight cheap trailer...
I once took on a job repainting a wrought Iron fence as a kid,,, allot of sanding and wire wheeling,,, but it looked good and I got paid,,, I know this thing will hold all of my crap,,, the amount of effort is what I am gauging it on...
I got a killer deal on this whole set up,, so I am trying to keep it real...
back of my mind is saying,,, Just buy a new trailer,,,, but wallet is saying,,, You can do it....
