rv furnace

I was out last night and took a flashlight and looked in the exhaust of my atwood furnace.I noticed a dirt dauber nest in there.I took a tree branch and crushed it all up.They extended the full length of the pipe. After that i took some compressed air and blew into the exhaust chamber. After i did this i realized i probably should have used my wet vac instead and sucked it out.Did i do more harm than good?If i wont to clean the dirt out myself what is the procedure?Would i be better off taking it to a professional or is it easy enough to do myself?

  • Take off the the exhaust/intake cap on the exterior. Remove the panel for the furnace on the exterior. Get in there with air and a vacuum and make it sparkle.

Just chalk this up to a lesson learned, some times its better to suck than to blow. I could expand on that but I think you get the idea.
  • sounds like a job to clean out. you may have blown all that nest into the heat chamber and you may have to remove the furnace to get it all out. I sure would try to get it all out if it were me.
