OK, I have found a local source for solar panels! Appear to have some real good pricing on hi voltage panels. Place is located in MA. About an hours drive south.
http://www.altestore.com/store/I'm considering 4 250W panels on the roof, 3 across the top of the bedroom and the 4th between AC 1 & 2. Morningstar MPPT-60 charge controller.
Still on the fence regarding tilting panels. Also leaning toward parallel connecting rather than series. Combiner box then either down thru roof/closet, or down thru rear cap, down to the electrical compartment (left rear) where I'm thinking of mounting Morningstar with remote panel in the front of the coach. Mounting the charge controller in the electrical bay would place it within 5 feet of the battery bank.
As for the battery bank.
Note that I had purchased the rig about 2 months ago. Drove it up from Texas. During the trip north I noticed that the batteries where not getting a full charge. I discovered a terminal that was super hot so I replaced a couple battery cables. I plan on replacing the battery cables with some that I will make up myself.
Yesterday I decided to take a closer look at the batteries. All four are Interstate Deep Cycle Extreme. GC2-XHD-UTL 122 min @ 75 amps, 232ah.
I could not get the caps off the last battery, Will have to move a cable BUT all the other batteries tested good with my hydrometer! Good news! No dead cells! All where about 1275 SC, in the green! Don't know when these batteries where installed. looed at ALL labels & none had a month/year marked on them.
I'm running a Xantrex Freedom 458.
ALSO... I believe my house batteries are NOT getting charged while driving down the road. I must have an isolator relay that's bad. Will have to quiz other 07 Discovery owners about where this bugger is located.
Have to scrape & pain the house today! Everybody welcome to help! I'll even provide lunch & dinner! LOL
