1000W will get you somewhere around 70 amps in southwest, clear sky, summer sun. In most circumstances, IMO, you'll be just under the Morningstars 60A limit. MPPT controllers will clip amps but why waste everything over 60A? You're probably looking at an Outback 80A or a Midnite Solar 150 (95A). Both controllers are around $700 each. What reading did the hydrometer give?
