RV Plug Replacement Physical Size

I just replaced my molded 50A male plug with a Camco 55255 plug that is larger in all 3 dimensions. Has anyone had issues with CG pedestal boxes due to the larger plug size? The pedestal lid not closing due to the handle height doesn't seem like a issue to me.

I also have a Camco 30A plug that is larger in all dimensions so the same question. I know that this plug will not fit in a HD 30A box due to it's length and of course the lid would not close.

It's not obvious that other brands are any better since dimensions are not given. Short molded extensions are available as a possible solution.

A plug without a handle is easily solved with the Plug Dog nylon strap handle which I have on all of my molded plugs.
  • I've occasionally had to whittle away some plastic on the pedestal, but it is rare.
  • I had that happen with a 30A. The new plug has the handle and is too tall for any box to close over it.
    Hasn't been a problem though.
  • I recommend Hubbell 50 amp plugs and Progressive Industries 30 amp plug.
  • I used the same on my OEM coach cord and a matching pair to divide a 25ft 50amp cord into 10 and 15ft. Have used one or the other numerous times in the past two years with no problems.

I have a camco-easy pull plug and have had no problems.
