Screws for attaching Wave heater to legs?

I just finally bought a Wave heater. I also bought the support legs from Amazon. The legs were a returned item sold at a discount over Amazon's usual price. (I know, I know, but I've had good luck purchasing items like this in the past.) Anyways, the legs arrived with no screws to attach them to the heater. Rather than go through the return process, I'd like to just buy some screws at Home Depot or Lowes. Does anyone know what specifications are on these screws? Hopefully, I won't have carry the whole heater in and try various screws! ;)

    Hi Tom,

I apologize for the delay in my response. These screws are M5 x 0.8 x 12mm.

I guess they are metric! I didn't need to force the thumbscrews that I used, so I guess either will work...

#10 = 4.8mm, metric M5 = 5mm. With enough brute force M5 would go in and you wouldn't know that the thread in the hole was #10 :)

With a jeweler's file, cut a longitudinal groove in each screw and they will easily cut new threads in the holes.

    Make it look like #23:

  • No, not metric.

Found them at Home Depot. I got the thumb screws. #10-32 X1/2".

Weird, that's exactly what I was thinking!

    ;)

    Really, metric?
  • They are metric. Just take the heater to your local Ace hardware store and try some until you find the ones that fit.
  • Also, I've already sent an email to Camco with the same question, but it's a weekend, so...
