I want to pass the cords straight down through holes in the table. That gets rid of the clutter. But two of the five need to be switched. I thought SCRs would mean minimal switching, even push-on-push-off would work. Having had two fires with conventional outlet strips eliminates them. When opened up I found the contacts to be about 5% that of a spec receptacle. They are toys. I chopped cords. Their 16 gauge is 17.5 gauge. I'll do this with individual duplex boxes with spec receptacles under the table, s mechanical timer, and an either/or on/on toggle. The timer eliminates the need for pilot lights.
