I've used one, and my FIL has one now. On a full tank you can fill numerous oversized offroad tires.
The only hassle is getting them refilled, but they are awesome while in use.
Don't get too hung up on steel vs alum tanks. For a comparable size the alum tank is a tiny bit heavier because a thicker wall is required for the pressure, but the alum tank will not rust, but it is easier to ding/damage.
