scuba gear?

I put my 2 steel tanks in my TT crossing Canada.

I put them as far forward, lying on the floor bottom to the front. I then put stuff around them to prevent them from moving.

No issue, 5000km later.

When I first got the MH 10 years ago I stored my Steel 72 CU in the back storage bay with my rubber raft. It was a lot of weight for the plastic storage bin and after several trips I realized that it was just as easy to rent the tanks when needed rather than refilling and maintaining hydro, visual, and refilling on the road. As Honda CT90 mentioned above the Fla springs are nice to dive, Alexander, Juniper, Salt and Blue springs are all free when you camp there. Over time I found I preferred to free dive the springs rather than the hassle with scuba equipment.

for the most part of our actual travel time, we put our tanks in the bed of the pickup.. I made a "holder" to keep them from rolling by tieing PVC pipes together with ropes spaced apart just enough for a tank to sit between each pole...and each pole is inside of a cut to length pool noodle to pad it...works great...we use the same "flexi rack" on the floor of our boat to keep them snug and not roll around.
when we have, on occassion, wanted the tanks to ride or store safely in the TT, I simply place that same noodle covered pvc rack on the floor right inside the side door and slide the tanks in...easy on my back, and they are placed nicely near the load bearing axles...there's a solid built in counter on one side, and I secure the tanks with dive weights and dive belts laid across the top of the tank stack (never more than 2 high)..we've never had an issue either on boat, bed of truck, or floor of camper.
The most the wife and I ever take is a total of 6 tanks (3 each) but usually that's when we plan to dive Largo and we're just pulling our boat for that trip...not the camper...so again, bed of truck for the tanks.
when we do trips to mid Fla...ie Rainbow river, Ocala springs etc...that's a camping trip for us...so we usually just pull 4 tanks down for that...and I only put the tanks in the camper once we are someplace parked where I would worry about theft.

Strapped in a homemade wood rack thats kinda like a wine rack. In the TV.

A low cost heavy duty plastic bin with sufficient padding to keep the tanks from bouncing around should work. The purpose built cases from casecruzer.com look pretty pricey.

Don't you have a holder for the tank? That would make it easy to strap.
Depends on TV I would rather plan to have it on it.
Putting more weight in the trailer increase risk of fishtailing, especially if you put the weight on the rear of trailer.

What about using a footlocker lined with padding.

Most welding supply stores sell brackets with straps for securing oxygen / acetylene tanks. Perhaps you could mount a couple of these brackets / straps within an upright cupboard in the TT? This would secure them in place and keep them in an upright position.

yea i figure it'd be pretty easy, just looking for suggestions. we have a smaller TT and TV, so just want to review multiple options to optimize space/weight constraints.

another idea i think will work is to mount a few tank brackets upright on a piece of plywood that i can slide in/out of the storage area under the front bed. would keep them secure, and can take the brackets out when not needed.

I carry my tanks in the TV with a rack I made to strap them down. BCD/Mask/Regulator/Wet Suit all ride in totes in the front compartment of the camper. You can easily make a rack from Uni-Strut.
