My water fill hose fell apart after 10 years so I bought a new one (ouch! Camping world sure thinks it is made of gold). Similar to this:http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/351405026317?ul_noapp=true&chn=ps&lpid=82It installed easily - but I can't get it to seal up on the tank side, I'm always getting a drip.I've tried tightening the clamp, adding another clamp - but I don't want to over tighten and collapse the inlet tube. Anyone have any tips? Can I use a sealant like pipe dope?

If you're filling a tank why do you need it to seal? I think most folks like me just use a white water hose and hang it in the opening.Perhaps I'm not understanding what you're doing.

When I replaced my 9 year old fresh water fill hose, it appeared to have clear silicone sealant or similar sealant around the tank inlet stub end, along with a hose clamp. And that was the original from the TT manufacturer.

I'm not worried about leakage at the outside fill.There is a hose that runs from the back of that fill fixture, through the camper, to the actual inlet of the tank. That junction at the tank inlet is leaking.I guess I could throw a sealant in there, there was none on the original.

They usually use silicone caulk there. It is kind of a stupid design.

There is a plumbers grease that is used when repairing the faucets on sinks. That might stop the drip.

As someone else mentioned, the hose should be a tight fit to begin with. The clamps should just be insurance against vibration removing it.

A little aquarium silicone should be OK. Aquarium version because if fish can live in constant contact with it, it shouldn't hurt you to drink water that has been in contact with it.

I've had the same issue on the last 3 RVs. We use our FW tank a lot, and if you fill them to the top, that poorly designed (let's be honest, it's not designed at all) tank connection leaks water out onto the RV floor somewhere hidden.

I'll have to try the super duper silicone mentioned above.

Just don't use a Bath and Kitchen type. It contains anti-fungals which are toxic.

I just replaced mine and it had plumbers putty on it. I used a size that was a tight fit and a heat gun to warm the hose and it went on really nice. I bet if you heated the hose before tightening the clamp that would solve the issue.

Silicone should work. Just don't do the final tightening until the silicone cures.
