Search tips for finding cheap solar panels

Hello,
Im in the market for solar panels to fit on top of my 5th wheel. I have read posts reffering to prices as low as .99 cents per watt. Can anyone pass along some search tips where i can find the low priced panels?

The lower priced ones seem to be for the 230 watt and higher output panels. Im looking for some between 100-130 watts. Those sized panels will allow me to mount up to four on my roof. Thanks for the help.

  • I'm not sure I should give out this link ;)

It lists prices from many companies

  • Thanks for the help. I should have asked this about two weeks ago when i was in San Diego. I could have stopped by solarblvd and picked some panels up on my way to Reno. I will keep checking the links. DMsolar is a nice price but throw on $100 shipping and it becomes more than i want to pay. Thanks again for the help.

  • Renogy 100W $132 w/free shippingThere are probably better deals out there and my opinion is that having wattage density, i.e. as much as you can fit in the footprint, is worth paying more. That's why I went with a higher wattage/voltage module and paid for MPPT controller. One opinion or theory doesn't fit all, though.
  • I just checked on Amazon, they don't have them, through DM solar, they are 158 watt panels, 2 for $268, I don't know what shipping would be. The only problem, is they are out right now. Mine have been great.

  • I got my DM solar panels on Amazon a couple of years ago, 2 panels 145 watt for under 300 shipped. They are 150+ watts now. Check on Amazon.
  • I have found the best deals on Craigslist. It does take checking a lot and knowing what you are looking at. You have to be ready when the deals show up. They go fast.
  • I have a relative in the solar business. He does residential and commercial. He told me if I wanted to add solar, to see him as he has used panels in great condition that are just going to waste. So, you might check a solar business in your area for a deal.
  • Ebay is full of them. If you don't mind bidding, or take advantage of "make offer", you can get 100 watt panels for $115 to $120 incl shipping. So if you knock off the shipping, that's less than $1 a watt.
Otherwise they are always selling for $125 to $130 per panel including shipping.
Some are located in china, many are located in S Ca.
Otherwise go buy a pallet full of the big heavy huge panels for .99, then pay the shipping, and then try to wrestle them big heavy suckers on the roof by yourself.

They advertise that base price, but what we've seen is there's a minimum purchase and outrageous shipping fees.
