Started my tool collection with Craftsman tools some 25 years ago when I could finally afford to buy some decent stuff..
Still have all those "Made in USA" and "Forged in USA" wrenches, sockets, ratchets. The old Craftsman 20" lawn mower I bought 20 years ago still starts after sitting for a month on the 2nd or 3rd pull... The front wheels are going to fall off and I don't mow with it anymore, but I still have it! I pull it out and fire it up just to see it fire up! I can't bring myself to get rid of it! I still have a Craftsman edger, a Craftsman chipper and a Craftsman gas weed wacker that are still going strong to this day too that are all around 20 years old..
Bought all our first homes appliances from Sears.. Maytag brand. Washer, dryer, fridge and the lawn mower. All appliances are still going strong. I have had to replace the dryer rollers and belt a couple of times, but I would order the parts off of the Sears Parts Online web site and no problem..
Just remembered I have a 15 year old Craftsman 3/4 hp chain drive garage door opener and I have not had to do anything with it in that time, except replace the light bulbs a couple of times! The outside remote still works great with only a couple of 9v battery changes over that time too..
Sad to see them go like this... Always liked going to Sears, even as a kid like was mentioned earlier back in the 70's..
Gonna miss them for sure.
