I agree wholeheartedly. And further The remark referenced was not insensitive. It was accurately pointing out the inherent hypocrisy in his own stance that he apparently cannot see.
No direct link exists between China, Chinese goods and his present unfortunate circumstances. China is just his Pinata of choice.
While I feel a degree of sympathy for the poster he is tilting at windmills. The cost of land in downtown San Francisco, or Hong Kong or anywhere else is a result of it's perceived value and the fact it SELLS. It is highly desirable real estate.
The cost of rent is where it is for much the same reasons.
Sears was the Amazon.com of the early to mid 20th Century. They could have been the Amazon.com of the 21st if they had leadership and just gotten out of their own way.
Sears demise has nothing to do with tools, China or where things are made. It has to do with the same issue we see with the poster in question...an inability to see that the world has changed in profound ways and a refusal to move with it.
