I took a battery of intelligence tests in the mid sixties. The aggregate summary was given to me. The tester, Lynn Bailey is long deceased and no possible connection can pinpoint her ID today. I mention it solely because as a teen I was gloating inwardly.
"Before you start schmoozing your ego, remember this...It is what you do with it is all that matters" That pushed a pin into the balloon. She continued "The most disgusting thing I encounter is someone with potential who wastes it".
GONG! That woke me up, boy did that wake me up.
The pinnacle of my efforts happened when I was engaged in electrical troubleshooting on 50' sailboats. I had to explain to them I was about to engage in a silent mental challenge. Board the vessel and I had exactly fifteen minutes to diagnose the fault, locate it exactly then come up with a plan for repairs.
The complexity of modern cruising sailboats makes an RV looks like simplicity incorporated but there is a catch here...manufacturers go out of their way to hide RV components, make them inaccessible or use the incorrect RV electrical "troubleshooting pathology" clues are not necessarily clues. They are false flags.
So my electrical troubleshooting skills are fine-honed. I applied myself and became a "niche rebuilder". Find design problems then fix them. County of LA had horrible failures with CS series Delco alternators. SRE bearing and just plain heat. First was to plaster permanent mylar sheet over the exposed bearing, the second was to hard anodize black the exterior shell of the alternator.
All it took was effort. And realizing only effort can diagnose and permanently cure many of the battery longevity issues on this forum I went on a campaign. Many years ago.
Only to meet "I don't need to...I don't wanna...Why should I?" Then I tend to get crabby but instead of insults I use black humor and obvious parody. I have a decidedly limited amount of patience with people who do not want to help themselves. Can't refuse to build a wall because it involves work.
I do not practice law, play carpenter, or install mufflers because I am utterly a clutz in many fields. Yet I do not attend carpentry forums knowing full well any answer I would get would not help me at all.
Happy New Years. Sorry no more personal resume from me. There is a handy button feature on the forum that blocks selected participants.
