Something like that. He mentioned this is another post. Having access to two free healthcare systems - one in the US and one in Mexico - is not bad though. I know Baja expats who only have one - Mexican national plan Seguro Popular, and it sucks. Eventually it boils down to what can be helped and what can't.
Best for you to STUDY before declaration. Neither system is FREE. Nothing is FREE down here. A bad cut will be sutured for free. When I broke my arm it cost me NINE HUNDRED US DOLLARS to get it set with pins sticking out the top of my wrist. The actual operation in the US costs in excess of $20,000 note DOLLARS.
When walking out of a hospital the bill must be satisfied 100%. Cops to either side of me insured I would not bolt for the door. This is fact for anyone without insurance VERIFIED Mexican insurance. You could have a billion dollars worth of coverage by a US company and you'll need cash to exit the hospital.
Rumors about Mexico are the bane of innocent travelers. Like the MYTH that the country abounds in ultra low sulfur diesel when in FACT it does not.
