Secondary propane tank

So, I have a 5th wheel with a propane tank on each side. Was not getting any flow from the secondary tank, no green on the guage.
Replaced the red regulator, and now have flow, but still no green.
Ran it this past weekend, all appliances worked fine, water heater, fridge, stove, oven and furnace(It's still chilly at night here). Tank is new and works good from the other side.
Any suggestions?
I do have a new pigtail, but have not changed it out.

Main tank works properly, green when lever to that side. Goes red when empty and switches to secondary. Propane flows from secondary tank ok. Switch lever to secondary side, no green.

Regulator is working properly cause it swaps from empty to full OK

Indicator when moved switches porting from one side to other side.
Side that does not show green (stays red) is plugged

Sometimes.....spraying around the face of lever with WD-40 or Silicone and then exercising lever several times can loosen it up

Otherwise.....live with one side not indicating properly OR replace regulator (even though regulator is functioning---just stuck porting for indicator)

Sounds like a bad regulator if the propane flows but the indicator shows red.
How old is it? what brand?

I recommend Cavagna brand for replacement.
  • My thought would be if you tried everything but the pigtail...

  • Many regulators have a lever or knob to turn that indicates which tank the regulator is monitoring. If the lever is in the wrong position it will give a false red or green indication.
