Don't have a towable but this seems like a common RV issue. If it is still under warranty, take it to the nearest facility offering warranty service for your rig. Some would deny coverage if there is evidence of DIY effort claiming that you may have caused the problem. Might even be a mobile techician somewhere. Just sayin'.
Yes it is under warranty and I have talked to the manufacturers warranty department. They are very flexible since the dealer I purchased the unit from is 175 miles away and they do not have a dealer in my area. They offered to let a local RV dealer do the repair if I would get an estimate before the work is done and let them authorize it. However when I spoke with the local dealer and explained the situation they didn't want any part of it. The service guy told me that they would not get involved with a warranty issue with a manufacturer that they didn't rep and he would not waste his time writing up an estimate because he has no way of knowing how involved or how much it will cost until he gets into it. (reminded me of why I have never purchased an RV from them in the first place). So I ask him for a ball park figure barring any major issues and he tells me that $500-$600 would probably get the job done but no guarantees and that I would have to prepay for half the repair up front to insure that they don't get left holding the bag. So I'm thinking that maybe the manufacturer would go along with the DIY method I've been a maintenance man for 30+ years but have never resealed an RV roof. Hence this thread. I Guess worst case I burn a vacation day or two and take it back to the dealer I bought it from.
