They sell propane refill plumbing kits now in the stores for refilling special refillable 16 oz. bottles (these are blue color, instead of green). Cool the little blue bottles in the freezer for awhile, then fill them from a regular 5 gal. BBQ tank that is held upside down using the refill plumbing kit. The little 16 oz. blue bottles cost around $10 and can be refilled over and over.
Our RV'ing friends do it all the time for when they tent camp. (However, I want no part of it ... just to save a few bucks.)
