amp hours. is the amps * the number of hours,
NO consumer charger of any kind i ever saw..has Amp hours
you have (2) 80amphr 12v batteries
in series that is (1) 80ampHr 24v battery...NOT 160amphrs
series is double the volts but same amp-capcity which equals double the power
doubling both is FOUR times the power..that takes FOUR batteries not two
24v charge (28.4v) at 20amps is the same power as 12v charger 14.2v at 40 amps
you really have logic problem with battery math
and its giving you all kinds of headaches, you don't need
for the batteries you have 20amps at 28.4v would be a good charger
you can even do with less, if time is not a problem (shore power over night) a 10 amp charger at 28.4 volts will work, 27.6v would be a good mid range
like using 13,8v on a 12v battery
whoever told you separately was best, did not know what he was taking about
that works for parallel batteries, when you have a stubborn battery, that doesn't respond like the rest of the bank, and you have days to fiddle with them
