Also be aware that it is a DOT SAFETY REQUIRMENT that when your trailer is being pulled over public roads that it MUST have a working battery online in the event the trailer becomes disconnected when being pulled. The on-board working trailer battery provides the 12VDC to the run away Trailer Electric Brakes to stop it.
Not having the working battery may go against your insurance claim for damages if it is determined that no working battery was on-line.
Most OEM disconnect switches will not remove the connection to the electric brakes but worth knowing this to be the case.
