How about connecting the transfer switch after the PI EMS?
I don't really worry about the inverter 120vac power going crazy.
It is. In between the EMS and the 120VAC Panel.
Yet somehow, when the new relay (transfer switch) closes with a load it momentarily affects EMS's AC freq reading.
I can see it happen. When you apply shore power to the EMS it waits two minutes before it transmits power (via it's own relay) to the new relay. During this time the EMS displays the incoming V and Hz. 120V, 60hz. No problem. But as soon as it releases the power, the next EMS reading is over 60hz and it shuts down. Hz then returns to 60.
Prolly the simplest solution would be to re-wire it so the shore power is on the NC contacts. Think that's how the commercial transfer boxes are wired.
But for now, just cutting the main breaker is working fine. And I guess it saves the relay contacts as well.
