Sounds like you don't believe the wfco info. So just keep it, see what happens, maybe you be lucky.
A PD 9245 will charge lots more than a wfco 8955 ever thought of doing. And they can be had for $129.
And just for info, and from 15 yrs running a PD, I can tell you that whatever a PD does, or doesn't do, it does it right, despite what the hi voltage fanatics and Trojan says. But believe what you want to.
