Didn't you say in another thread you use maintainers that charge at OVER 15 VOLTS, before dropping into float? And that's on an already near-FULL battery, not a 50-90% battery. I only top charge my 6 volters at 14.8v (temp compensated). So who's the "high voltage fanatic" in that case?
To the OP, charging a pair of GC batteries at 14.8v and a reasonable current, will in no way harm them. But it will save you countless hours of generator run time, when boondocking. At the end of the boondocking trip, FULLY charge the batteries before putting them back on the converter for maintenance float.
