Your PD dropped into float when the bank was still accepting ~15 amps, at 14.4v. This is before 90%, not well past. BFL's charts show about a 5a/100Ah marker for 90% at 14.5v. So, 14.4v would be less than 5a/100Ah, so maybe 12a. Nevertheless, that is a really good charging profile.
However, when boondocking, time is money, noise, and fumes. At 14.8v, that same profile would be significantly shorter than a 4 hour 50-90. Of course, if the OP went with the same 55'er, on his (smaller) 220Ah bank, that would help knock down the time considerably. That's a C/4 rate, so around 3 hours for a 50-90.
But the OP would still need something for proper top charging and EQ'ing, so I really don't see any other option but to go with two new units, seeing as a 50-60 amp charger is hard to come by. Perhaps a pd4655 and a mega watt s-350-12, for a total of $250.
