The only truly "adaptive" gauge is from "smart gauge". I have not found a North American supplier. It purportedly becomes more accurate the longer it is used with the battery bank.
Next best are the Victron units which do a Peukert calculation. Bringing up the rear is Trimetric which costs more and is a larger footprint than the Victron units. All of the offerings in NA require you to know the capacity of the battery bank. Unfortunately that is a "moving target" that changes with temperature, age and a host of other factors.
If the batteries are flooded it is hard to beat a decent temperature compensated specific gravity measuring device. If I get one it will be the refractometer type.
Personally, I use a voltage meter and a Hall effect ammeter.
