Street cred, perhaps not. Research, followed by verifying with others with regards to quailty, performance, user-ability, yes.
Here's what Randy had to say regarding an important issue many were not aware of (even though it's been discussed in the converter threads quite often):
"Yes, the unit is PFC and the max draw is 12 amps. The size of the thermistor has been increased. We have not had any issues since then. Thanks!

So, hopefully the larger Thermistor will indeed put that concern to rest. Of course, now I'm wondering which units have the improvement? Perhaps another email is in order.
