Hi, BFL,
Yes, this was my email to Randy:
"Hi Randy,
I have a couple questions about your new bpcm-75:
1) Is it PFC ? And if so, what is its max AC input current draw?
2) Did the hot re-start thermistor issue get dealt with?
Thanks!"

It may be safe to assume the newest models have been upgraded, but how does one know if they're getting the newest model? Perhaps by buying from Randy, only, regardless of price? However, dealing with Randy and Errin directly, didn't stop me from getting the wrong converter. :(
Doesn't removing the lid void the warranty? And if one does receive an older, unimproved unit, is powermax going to foot the bill for return shipping and the thermistor upgrade?
And there is no way to avoid a power outage, regardless of the order you use to hook things up. That's the real issue. So, now you're into another $50 (plus shipping) for a power-on-delay device, which may or may not provide adequate protection.
At this point in time, I have no confidence in thinking all has been resolved. There are just too many distributors, selling too many versions, with too widely varying specs to satisfy my concerns.
That said, I have not completely given up on powermax, as my recent purchase of a pm3-75 indicates. Hopefully, I'll be one of the lucky ones who never has to deal with another blown thermistor. If I do, I will likely have it fixed locally, or fix it myself, as you did.
